Empowering Women, Strengthening Community
Welcome to the Women’s Fund of El Paso! We are dedicated to supporting women and families in our community through various programs, initiatives, and partnerships. Our mission is to create opportunities for women to thrive by fostering education, providing resources, and advocating for positive change in El Paso. We believe in the power of community and the strength of women coming together to make a difference.
HistoryThe Women’s Fund of El Paso is a remarkable organization with a compelling origin story. Founded in 2004 in response to the “El Paso Portraits: Women’s Lives, Potential and Opportunities” study, it addresses significant issues of income disparity and educational gaps among women in El Paso. The study’s findings highlighted the challenges faced by women, particularly the 38,000 single mothers, and galvanized efforts to improve their circumstances.
By focusing on connecting women with community resources and offering educational and leadership opportunities, the Women’s Fund aims to empower women and bridge gaps in their access to support and advancement. This proactive approach not only addresses immediate needs but also works toward long-term systemic change, fostering a more equitable environment for women in the region. |
AccomplishmentsAs an all-volunteer organization, the Women’s Fund of El Paso has made a tangible impact on the community. Through our signature event, Power of the Purse, we have raised over $200,000 for educational scholarships at UTEP, EPCC, Maternidad La Luz, and other local training programs. Additionally, we have provided $15,000 in leadership development scholarships and $10,000 in giving circles to support further education and leadership growth. These efforts reflect our dedication to empowering women and enhancing their opportunities in the El Paso area.
